Car Servicing Colchester
Part of the Bosch Car Service network
All Trans Autos are veterans of providing car service in Colchester, having served the local community for decades.
We offer an All Trans Servicing package and a Bosch Servicing package. These are coded to a Bronze, Silver and Gold service, depending on the level of service you require for your car.
As an independent garage, we offer a full manufacturers service at a fraction of the cost. Under ‘Block Exemption’ the owner of a new car is entitled to have their car services at a garage of their choice. Provided the manufacturer’s specification is followed and genuine parts are fitted, it will not affect the warranty. All Trans Autos are experienced in carrying out car services in Colchester as per the specifications and have the most up to date diagnostic equipment necessary for this.
Keeping up to date with your car’s service history is vital. A common recommendation from manufacturers is that your car should be serviced either every 12 months or every 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. By keeping up to date with your car service, your car can stay healthier for longer and ensures that your car is road safe.
Rest assured as a Bosch Car Service garage in Colchester, we work to the highest standards using only original equipment parts and manufacture approved oils. For newer vehicles and where it is customer preference, we can follow manufacturers specific service schedules and we can gladly explain what is included in these services.
More and more, care manufacturers are not including a physical service logbook with the car. This requires a manual stamp and often lives in the glove box. A growing number of cars now have a Digital Safety Record (DSR). This allows us to digitally store and record all information about your vehicle on a central database. By having this DSR, all information about servicing and repairs can be stored digitally.
For many, booking your car’s service and MOT come hand in hand and are often done at the same time. All Trans Autos offer a complimentary email reminder when your service or MOT is next due.
If you are looking for car service in Colchester or an MOT, call All Trans Autos today to find out more.

Car Service Colchester FAQ’s
How often should I get a car service?
Each car manufacturer makes specific service recommendations for each model, with many newer cars designed to go longer between intervals. Depending on the vehicle's age, mileage and history a good rule of thumb for car servicing is every 12,000 miles or 12 months. A full, or silver service is ideal for drivers doing lower annual mileages who will only have their car serviced once a year.
Interim services, or bronze services are generally designed for high-mileage drivers covering 20,000 miles or more a year - that may need more than one service per year
A major service or gold service is recommended every 24 months or 24,000 miles, or, as the following service to a full service conducted the year prior.
For friendly, specialist advice on choosing the service tier most suitable for your vehicle, contact All Trans Autos here.
What car service does my car need?
The car service required is dependant on make, model, age and history. An annual car service is recommended for most vehicles and a good rule of thumb is a full car service every 12,000 miles which the average motorist covers annually. For the low mileage car alternating a full car service and a basic car service, each year may be appropriate. Each car manufacturer makes specific recommendations for each model, so for a guide specific to your vehicle service, contact us with your registration, current mileage and if possible, any known history. Remember if funds are low, a basic car service is better than no car service and we have a range of payment options available.
Why are there so many choices for a car service?
In short, because there are so many variables; make, model, age, mileage, history and budget. Contact us with your registration, current mileage, if possible any known vehicle servicing history and we can guide you through the vehicle servicing options to help make an informed choice.
How much is a car service?
The cost of car service will depend on the vehicle service required. As a guide, the average cost of basic vehicle service is £105-£130.00 including VAT and the average cost of full vehicle service is £210.00 to £260.00 including VAT. Please do be mindful this is an average cost, for an accurate quote tailored specifically to your car and its servicing needs contact us with your registration, current mileage and if possible, history. We can also provide details for the range of payment options we have available.
What does a car service include?
At All Trans Autos Ltd we offer an All Trans Servicing package and a Bosch Servicing package. These are coded to a Bronze, Silver and Gold service depending on the level of service you require for your car.
There is no industry standard for a car service. So, a ‘full vehicle service’ in one garage may include a 50-point check and in another only a 40-point check. Rest assured as a Bosch Car Service we work to the highest standards using only original equipment parts and manufacture approved oils.
As a general standard, a service often includes (but is not limited to):
· Engine oil changes or filter replacement
· Functionality checks on lights, brakes, and steering.
· Engine tuning adjustments
· Hydraulic fluid and coolant level checks
· Suspension checks
· Steering alignment
· Battery condition checks
My car is making a noise, will a car service fix this?
With so many components on a vehicle, all having the potential to make a variety of noises, it would be difficult to give an accurate answer without first identifying the noise.
If the vehicle is due a service, details of the noise can be discussed at the time of booking. The All Trans Autos team will be happy to advise on whether the noise is able to be identified within the service. If the vehicle is not due for a car service, we would recommend visiting our Colchester based garage, where one of our trained technicians can listen to the noise and advise the best course of action.

There is a warning light on my dashboard, will a car service fix this?
There are over 3,000 faults that can cause warning lights to illuminate on a car dashboard. Whether or not a service will remedy the fault and extinguish the light depends on which light is illuminated, and the underlying cause.
If the service light is illuminated, it will be reset and extinguished as part of the car service, meaning it will illuminate again when the next service is due. If the light is a warning lamp, it is unlikely the fault will be remedied by a car service.
Please contact our friendly team of experts here to discuss which light is illuminated and the best course of action.
Can I pay monthly for a car service?
Here at All Trans Autos, we have a number of finance and payment options available.
For those unexpected or difficult times, we have payment assist, a monthly payment plan. In order to qualify for payment assist, the bill must exceed £250.00.
The customer pays 25% of the bill at the time of collection and pays the remaining amount over 3 further, monthly payments. There is 0% interest and no hidden fees.
For those who prefer to plan, we have a savings scheme. This scheme lets you, the customer, deposit an amount of your choice each month, creating a savings balance, which may be used for any bill at All Trans Autos. We can estimate the annual servicing costs to assist with calculating the most appropriate monthly deposit.
In addition to these payment options, All Trans Autos will soon be introducing vehicle service plans. These will be able to be tailored to your needs from 12-month plans to 36-month plans incorporating all of the car servicing needs for your vehicle at an affordable monthly cost.
Does my car need a service every year?
Car manufacturers recommend that your car should have a car service every 12,000 miles or every 12months, whichever comes first. Some cars feature a self-diagnostic system, which will advise when a car servicing is due. Drivers are advised not to ignore these warning signs even if they occur before 12 months or 12,000 miles has been reached because regular car servicing can help to keep your car running smoothly and identify potential problems early on, reducing the risk of more serious and costly problems in the future, and also reducing the risk of a car breakdown.
What is the difference between a car service and an MOT?
MOTs should not be confused with vehicle services – the MOT must be passed on a yearly basis as a legal requirement, whereas services are highly recommended. An MOT ensures a vehicle meets the minimum standards of roadworthiness, whilst a service keeps it running in peak condition, and accounts for wear and tear. Undertaking regular car services will ensure your vehicle runs as well as possible, alongside retaining its value for possible future buyers.
A car service is an in-depth inspection, often carried out at set time intervals recommended by the manufacturer, or, after the car has travelled a certain number of miles, for example, 12,000, or 24,000.
Services aim to ensure vehicles are in optimum condition, by checking key components and replacing any ageing parts, or parts with a short lifespan. Common examples of this include air filters or fluids.
There are three different types of vehicle service: Interim, Full and Major – in Bosch garages, these are labelled bronze, silver, and gold respectively.
Do I have to get my car serviced by a main dealer?
No, you do not have to get your car serviced by a main dealer. Having a new vehicle serviced by a non-franchise dealer or location will not impact your warranty – legislation introduced by the EU in 2003 ensures this so long as two main conditions are followed by those completing the vehicle service. The vehicle manufacturer’s recommended service schedule must be followed, and only manufacturer-approved parts may be installed.
As an independent garage, All Trans Autos offer a full manufacturers service at a fraction of the cost. We are highly experienced in carrying out services as per the specifications and have the most up to date diagnostic equipment necessary for this.

Is a car service necessary?
Unlike an MOT test, a car service is not a legal requirement, however, car manufacturers recommend that your car should have a vehicle service every 12,000 miles or every 12months, whichever comes first. Some cars feature a self-diagnostic system, which will advise when a car servicing is due. Although it can be costly, there are a number of benefits associated with regular servicing, including higher resale value, improved reliability, braking and fuel efficiency, and smoother engine performance.
