Motorhome Repairs & Servicing – Stanway

All Trans Autos service and repair the base vehicle of your motorhome, covering the engine, brakes, suspension, clutch, and other running gear.

We work on motorhomes built on most common base vehicles, including the Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Relay, Ford Transit, and Mercedes Sprinter, and our workshop is equipped to lift and work on larger vehicles.

Servicing your motorhome’s base vehicle

Your motorhome’s engine and chassis need servicing like any other vehicle, and many owners find it easiest to book this before the touring season starts. If the base vehicle is still under warranty, we service it in line with the manufacturer’s schedule and update the online service record.

Once the warranty has ended, you can choose between an interim service with a 30-point health check and a full service with a 70-point health check. Because many motorhomes cover relatively few miles, the time-based interval is usually the wiser one to follow, and we generally recommend a service every 12 months.

Our work focuses on the base vehicle and running gear, so we’ll look after everything that gets you from home to the campsite.

Problems that follow a winter off the road

Motorhomes often sit unused for months, and that brings its own problems. The most common we see are:

  • brakes sticking or seizing after long periods parked
  • flat or weakened vehicle batteries
  • tyres that have developed cracks in the sidewall, even with plenty of tread left
  • perished wiper blades and rubber seals
  • warning lights appearing on the first drive of the year

Age matters on motorhomes in a way it often doesn’t on cars. Tyres and cambelts both deteriorate with time as well as mileage, so a low-mileage motorhome can still be due for work.

Repairs we carry out

We handle mechanical repairs across the base vehicle, including:

  • brake pads, discs, and callipers
  • suspension, including springs that have sagged under the weight
  • clutch and flywheel replacement
  • cambelt changes
  • fault diagnosis using dealer-level equipment

A fully loaded motorhome puts constant strain on its brakes, suspension, and clutch, so these parts can wear faster than they would on the same van used without a conversion.

Room for your motorhome

Size is often the reason owners struggle to find a garage. Our ramps take vehicles up to 5.5 tonnes, and we have a further ramp rated to 26 tonnes, so we can lift and work on motorhomes that many local workshops can’t accommodate.

You decide what work goes ahead

If our inspection turns up anything beyond the service, you’ll get a call with photos and an explanation of what’s needed, and we won’t start until you’ve agreed. A courtesy car can be arranged while your motorhome is with us, although charges may apply.

We use parts of original equipment quality, with genuine parts fitted where required. Parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty, and our labour is guaranteed for 12 months.
